Are you an experienced veterinary nurse with strong surgical skills and a passion for patient care? This is an excellent opportunity to step into an advanced surgical nursing role where you will play a key part in supporting complex procedures and delivering high standards of perioperative care.

This position is suited to a highly skilled and motivated nurse who thrives in a fast-paced surgical environment.

You will be involved in all aspects of surgical nursing, including:

Pre-operative duties:

– Perform patient assessments and assist with stabilisation prior to surgery

– Assist with diagnostic workups, including blood tests and radiographs

– Prepare surgical kits and ensure all instruments are sterilised

– Carry out aseptic patient preparation, including clipping, scrubbing and positioning

Anaesthesia and monitoring:

– Induce and maintain anaesthesia

– Monitor patients using capnography, blood pressure, SpO2 and temperature

– Manage pain, including CRI administration

– Respond to anaesthetic complications and emergencies

Intra-operative assistance:

– Scrub in as a sterile assistant for advanced procedures, including orthopaedic surgery

– Assist surgeons with instrument handling, tissue management and retraction

Post-operative care:

– Monitor recovery from anaesthesia and observe vital signs

– Perform wound care and dressing changes

– Administer medications as prescribed

– Communicate with clients regarding discharge instructions and at-home care

The role will suit a qualified veterinary nurse with significant surgical experience, strong knowledge of advanced anaesthesia and monitoring techniques, and experience assisting in surgical procedures.

The practice is located south of the Perth CBD, with great access to the freeway and only a few minutes from the coast.
