JOB NO: 222,776SB2

An experienced veterinary nurse is required to join a well-established, privately owned small animal practice in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.

This is a full-time position within a busy and highly capable team, suited to a nurse who enjoys a fast-paced environment, takes pride in high standards of patient care and is ready to make a meaningful contribution in a collaborative clinical environment.

This is a varied role with the opportunity to be involved in far more than routine nursing duties. The practice offers reproduction services, including AI, TCI using fresh and frozen semen, caesareans and neonatal care. Nurses are also involved in orthopaedic procedures and scopes, with senior nurses assisting in more complex surgeries.

The clinic runs in-house blood testing, progesterone testing and vaccine titre testing, and also has a strong focus on sports medicine and rehabilitation, including an on-site underwater treadmill and a broad range of rehabilitation equipment. This is a great opportunity for a nurse who enjoys specialised care and wants to expand their hands-on experience across a diverse caseload.

The successful applicant will ideally have at least three years of experience in a clinical setting and be confident working independently, particularly with surgical monitoring. This role would suit someone who can lead by example, support junior team members and communicate well with a diverse client base. The team is looking for a nurse who enjoys the pace of a busy clinic, works well under pressure and brings a positive, capable approach to the day-to-day flow of hospital nursing.

The practice is very well equipped, with a strong range of surgical and diagnostic equipment, including a gastroscope, arthroscope, laparoscope, bronchoscope, oxygen cages, ECG, ultrasound, x-ray and Cardell anaesthetic monitoring equipment. The clinic is computerised with Cornerstone.

You will be joining a team of 10 vets and a large, supportive nursing team who are committed to delivering high-quality small animal medicine and excellent care to patients and clients alike. The practice also places importance on creating a positive working environment that supports both personal and career development.

The role is full time and includes one Saturday or Sunday a fortnight, with penalty rates paid. Above award rates are on offer depending on experience. You’ll also receive an RDO, and there is flexibility to negotiate roster details with the Practice Manager to help create a sustainable work-life balance. This is a team where your knowledge is valued and where a collaborative, positive workplace culture is genuinely important.

Melbourne’s northern suburbs offer an appealing mix of convenience, community and lifestyle. The area provides easy access to the CBD by train, along with parks, cafes and diverse dining options that make day-to-day life enjoyable and well-connected. It’s a practical choice for nurses who want the energy and career options of Melbourne while still enjoying a more local neighbourhood feel.
