A large, multi-vet practice in Tasmania is seeking a veterinarian to join the team. This position would suit a vet with an interest in both medicine and surgery. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team are essential.
Whether you’re looking for full-time, part-time, or casual work, this practice is large and flexible enough to accommodate your preferences. There’s even the option to try a casual position first to see if the clinic is the right fit for you. The team works on an eight-week rotating roster, averaging 32–38 hours per week. After-hours responsibilities are shared with a neighbouring clinic, meaning vets are on-call just 1 to 1.5 nights per month on average.
You’ll be joining a fantastic team that prides itself on delivering outstanding care to clients and their pets. The practice currently employs 12 vets and more than 30 nurses and receptionists, all working together to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients and their owners. In addition to treating dogs, the practice includes a dedicated ISFM Gold Standard cat clinic.
Whether you’re passionate about feline medicine, prefer working with dogs, or enjoy both, the choice is yours. The clinic accepts referral cases and regularly performs advanced procedures, including soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries, along with oncology, imaging, and acupuncture services.
The team is collaborative and supportive. Vets and nurses help one another and experienced team members actively mentor newer colleagues. Many of the vets have developed areas of special interest, allowing for a wide range of cases to be managed in-house. Current strengths across the team include imaging, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, orthopaedics, oncology, ophthalmology, and acupuncture.
The purpose-built hospital is exceptionally well-equipped, featuring three sterile theatres, digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, rigid and flexible endoscopy, a digital tonometer, in-house Idexx Procyte and Catalyst, Smartflow, and access to off-site MRI and CT.
Located in stunning Tasmania, the clinic is surrounded by pristine beaches, vineyards, and world-class walking and biking trails. The area offers a relaxed lifestyle with fantastic food and wine, a vibrant arts scene, excellent shops and cafés, and a strong sense of community. Just a 45-minute flight to Melbourne, the region continues to attract new residents seeking fresh air, natural beauty, and a high quality of life.

Hear from one of the team – a Cambridge 2000 graduate:
I have been working at this practice since August 2020. It is a very busy practice. I enjoy working with a team of like-minded people who always try to get the job done to the best standard possible. The caseload is mainly dogs and cats, with some rabbits. Because of the size of the practice, we see some unusual things. We also can’t refer much, so most things are done in-house. I am presented with a new challenge every day. I am currently doing a soft-tissue surgery course, and the practice owners make sure that I have the caseload to progress with this. The after-hours can be busy, however, you are well remunerated for this. There is almost always a day off after being on call. I do more here than other practices I have worked at, which is really satisfying. The practice equipment is good. In this position, I feel well rewarded, both financially and emotionally. The town is big enough for a family. There are good schools, and everyone is very friendly.
