Step into a rewarding leadership role as a lead companion animal veterinarian at a well-equipped practice in Auckland.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced vet ready to take the next step by combining clinical work with clinic leadership, team mentoring and greater involvement in the day-to-day direction of the practice.

The position offers flexibility, with either full-time or part-time hours available, and would suit someone who is passionate about high standards of patient care, building strong client relationships and helping a team grow and thrive.

In this role, you’ll lead a skilled and passionate team with a genuine focus on animal health and wellbeing. You will have the autonomy to make decisions, contribute ideas and help shape the future direction of the clinic, while being supported by an excellent practice manager and an experienced area manager.

The practice is looking for a compassionate, friendly and team-oriented vet with a sense of humour, a can-do attitude and a willingness to mentor less experienced staff, strengthen client relationships, maintain clinic financials and support positive change within the team.

The clinic is purpose-built and fitted with modern equipment and facilities to support quality companion animal practice. It includes an on-site theatre, IDEXX laboratory machines, digital radiography, including dental radiography, and separate dog and cat wards. There are also leadership and business mentorship resources available, designed to help experienced vets transition successfully into a senior role and build their confidence as effective and influential leaders.

The role comes with an attractive remuneration package of $140K, dependent on experience, with regular reviews that generously reward performance.

Other benefits include no on-call work, public holidays or Sundays, flexibility to accommodate personal commitments and clinic requirements, access to a broad support network of like-minded professionals, unlimited professional development aligned with your career goals, in-clinic VIN membership, paid parental leave, an annual conference at no cost, employee discounts, and access to health and wellbeing support.

Auckland offers an excellent lifestyle for vets looking to combine career progression with plenty to enjoy outside work. As New Zealand’s largest city, it is known for its mix of urban convenience, dining, arts and culture, with easy access to beaches, coastal walks and island day trips. It is a vibrant, multi-cultural city with a strong food scene and a wide range of leisure and recreation options, making it a fantastic place to live and work.
