A practice in Queensland is seeking an additional specialist in equine surgery to join their 7-vet team.
This growing practice provides ambulatory first opinion, reproduction, medicine, lameness and surgical referral services for racing thoroughbreds, performance and pleasure horses.
You will be working alongside one other equine specialist. The team also includes an experienced equine practitioner, an experienced small animal practitioner, and four keen and capable recent graduates. Nursing and reception support is provided by a team of nine.
The caseload is varied and challenging, ranging from first opinion and referral lameness and airway disease in Thoroughbred race horses to pleasure horse ophthalmology, management of foal orthopaedic conditions, wounds and referral colic surgery.
The employers aim to provide a supportive and friendly working environment, encouraging the team to pursue and develop skills in areas of special interest.
The practice facilities include 16 stables, including an insolation box, digital radiology, ultrasound, endoscopy, clinical pathology, equine surgery and recovery box.
The successful applicant will be an equine surgeon eligible for specialist registration or pursuing qualifications leading to specialist registration (FANZCVS or equivalent).
Remuneration is negotiable depending on experience and qualifications. The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) and relocation costs for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.
