A well-established, modern practice in the Canterbury region is seeking an experienced vet to step into a leadership role.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident companion animal veterinarian who enjoys both surgery and consulting, and who is ready to take the next step in their career by mentoring and supporting a companion animal team.
The role is ideally full time, working around 40 hours per week with a shared Saturday clinic roster of 1 in 4 weekends. Part-time hours of 3 to 4 days per week may also be considered for the right candidate.
In this senior position, you will act as the go-to surgical clinician for the companion animal team, providing leadership, guidance and hands-on mentoring to junior vets.
You’ll enjoy working in a spacious, well-equipped clinic with in-house diagnostics including ultrasound, dental X-ray and a full Idexx diagnostic suite, supported by a skilled nursing, technician and support team who are committed to delivering a high standard of patient care.
This role would suit a veterinarian with at least five years’ experience in companion animal practice, strong clinical and surgical skills, and a genuine interest in leadership and professional development.
You’ll be joining a proactive, collaborative team that values learning, open communication and a positive workplace culture, with access to ongoing CPD, structured development reviews and wellbeing initiatives.
Outside of work, the Canterbury region offers an exceptional lifestyle. Located within easy commuting distance of Christchurch and right on the doorstep of the Southern Alps, the area provides endless opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. From skiing and hiking to rivers, lakes and nearby wineries, it’s an ideal location for vets seeking career progression without compromising on lifestyle.
