TYPE OF WORK: Mixed (Companion Animals, Dairy, Sheep, Beef and Deer)

HOURS: Full Time

SALARY: Commensurate with experience

JOB NO: 223,112SB2

A mixed practice veterinarian is required to join a collaborative veterinary team in South Canterbury.

This role would suit a vet with at least two years of experience who enjoys a genuinely mixed and varied workload across companion and production animal practice.

The companion animal caseload includes consultations, routine surgery and medical work-ups. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with a neighbouring companion animal clinic, with orthopaedic procedures, more complex surgeries and complex medical cases referred when necessary. Production animal work includes dairy cattle, sheep, beef cattle and deer.

Opening hours are 8 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday. The clinic has all of the equipment to undertake high-quality, small animal practice. This includes IDEXX machine, endoscope, laparoscope, ultrasound and digital x-ray.

The practice forms part of a wider South Canterbury network. This structure allows the successful applicant to collaborate with veterinary colleagues across the region while enjoying the variety and relationships that come with mixed rural practice.

The location offers relaxed small-town living. The surrounding area provides access to riverside walking and cycling trails, scenic foothills and the wider recreational attractions of South Canterbury, making it an appealing base for those who enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle and a strong sense of community.
