A mixed practice in New Zealand’s Manawatu-Wanganui Region is seeking to employ a mixed animal veterinarian.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a veterinarian who enjoys the variety and challenges of a true mixed practice.

Experienced vets with 5 years experience are welcome to apply. This position would suit a vet with a special interest in sheep and beef.

The role involves a balance of beef, sheep, deer, companion animal and dairy, with participation in a shared after-hours roster.

You will be joining a supportive team of two mixed animal vets and will also have access to a broader network of specialists, including companion animal veterinarians, an after-hours clinic and nutritionists.

The ideal candidate will have experience with sheep and beef farming systems, be confident in small animal medicine, and enjoy working both independently and collaboratively. Excellent time management, strong communication skills and a commitment to client service are key to succeeding in this role.

The clinic values a professional yet friendly approach and fosters a family-oriented team environment.

The practice offers a modern facility, a skilled support team and a strong emphasis on career development. Internal and external CPD opportunities are encouraged, and you’ll be supported to pursue your own areas of interest.

The employer is happy to provide visa assistance and a relocation package for vets from overseas.

The practice is located centrally in an area offering a vast range of outdoor activities such as tramping, triathlons and fishing. Within the area is a multitude of community groups, clubs, sporting teams and one of New Zealand’s largest ski areas. The practice is only a short drive from a large city and airport, the ski fields of the central plateau and the ferry terminal gateway to the South Island. According to the locals, the region is a well-kept secret!
