Are you looking for a practice with a strong sense of community and fun, as well as getting to work with great farmers and animals? Look no further!

An independently owned practice in Waikato is seeking a veterinarian with 2+ years of experience who has a passion for dairy, sheep and beef farming. The team works from two purpose-built clinics and enjoys a varied caseload. All vets contribute to each area giving a truly mixed practice work environment.

The work environment is relaxed and fun, leading to a happy team. The practice has a member of the Australian College of Veterinary Specialists in Diagnostic Imaging on the team. The team has young families and works flexibly to allow an environment suitable for parents with young children. The employer will consider part-time hours.

The client base is largely farming, which leads to a productive and great working relationship with the customers. Most of your days entail driving the hill country roads and visiting farms of all shapes and sizes. You will spend one day per week on the companion animal roster and four days on the large animal roster.

The practice operates out of two purpose-built clinics that service approximately 1500 working dogs, 1000 companion animal clients, over 25,000 dairy cows and 260 sheep, beef and dairy support farms.

What’s on offer:

– Competitive remuneration (DOE)

– 1-in-6 after-hours rotation for weekends and weeknights

– An extra week of annual leave allowance, giving 5 weeks

– Day in lieu after a weekend on-call

– Work vehicle provided

– Generous CPD allowance for development

– NZVA and APC fees paid

– Mobile phone and laptop

– Visa and relocation allowance provided for overseas applicants

What the practice is looking for:

– A confident communicator with the team and farming clients

– A passion for large animals and farming, with confidence and competence in small animal medicine and surgery (The ideal candidate would have a dairy and/or sheep and beef focus)

– A team player who looks forward to collaborating with vets and support staff to give a great service.

– Someone who likes to have fun, enjoys getting to know the community and gets involved with local sports/recreation.

The location offers a wide range of sports and social events. Trekking and biking trails, beaches, hunting, fishing, mountains and exciting day trips are just a drive away.
