JOB NO: 223,108SB2

A well established, NZVA BESTPRACTICE accredited clinic is seeking a mixed animal veterinarian to join its friendly, close-knit team on New Zealand’s South Island.

The position offers the potential to progress into a Lead Veterinarian position within 12 to 18 months.

You will work alongside four veterinarians and 17 support staff, including experienced veterinary nurses, animal care attendants and administrative professionals. The team brings together a broad range of skills and works collaboratively to provide strong clinical and operational support.

The role offers a varied mixed animal caseload. Large animal responsibilities include routine care, emergency work, disease investigations, pregnancy testing, diagnostics, surgery and providing advice to the local farming community. You will work closely with the veterinary team, rural business coordinator and administrator.

Companion animal work includes consultations, surgery, diagnostics and preventative healthcare. The practice has an Idexx Minilab for on-site testing and same-day diagnostic results, along with access to modern equipment and advanced veterinary technology.

Applicants should have at least two years of experience in large animal practice. The successful veterinarian will be self-motivated and comfortable contributing to a collaborative, team-focused working environment.

The role offers a salary of $130,000 to $160,000, depending on experience, along with a relocation or sign-on bonus of up to $10,000. A long-term incentive provides a 10% cash bonus at the end of three years. Veterinary Board registration and VIN membership are paid, and $1,500 is available for ongoing professional development. Clear career progression pathways are also available.

Flexible working arrangements can be considered, including four-day working weeks and part-time hours. After-hours duties are shared between the team and another clinic, with separate large and small animal rosters.

Visa sponsorship is available with dedicated immigration assistance for suitable overseas candidates.

The practice is located in a family-friendly suburb with excellent health, education, sporting and cultural facilities. The region is also famous for its many vineyards and cellar doors. National parks and beaches are also close by.
