A rare opportunity has become available for an experienced vet or a new graduate to join a true mixed, privately-owned practice in South Australia.
The practice offers excellent exposure to mixed animal work, a varied caseload, and the chance to build practical skills and confidence in a genuinely supportive environment.
This is a permanent full-time position and it involves working across a nine-day fortnight with a fair and well-supported after-hours roster.
This is the kind of mixed practice role that gives you real breadth early in your career. You’ll work alongside an experienced team with strengths across large and small animal internal medicine, surgery and pocket pets. The small animal caseload is diverse and sits alongside a substantial, highly engaged production-animal client base.
Large animal work includes pregnancy testing, bull testing, ram vasectomy, herd health consultancy and emergency work. Large animal duties are shared across the team, so you’ll be challenged and supported as you grow your skills.
The practice is proud of its strong team culture and long-term retention. New graduates are encouraged to contribute, ask questions and develop their own voice. The clinic values learning, reflection and open communication, with a safe-to-fail culture where mistakes are debriefed rather than buried.
Mentoring is a standout feature of this role. This is a workplace that takes professional development seriously and invests in its people. Alongside technical training, the team also places strong emphasis on communication, client care and personal growth. Vets are supported by dedicated nurses, a client services team, and experienced finance and operations managers.
The clinic is modern and purpose-built, with great staff amenities, vet offices and tea rooms. The role offers a work vehicle, a generous salary plus after-hours compensation, and a $2,000 CPD allowance with 1 week of paid CPD leave. AVA membership, SIGs, SA Vet Board registration and radiation licence are included. Additional support includes Lincoln Institute leadership and personal development training, Mojo Crowe mindset training, Sonder EAP wellbeing support, and furnished share house accommodation to help you settle in. There is also a try-before-you-commit week, with the option to bring a friend along.
This role would suit a veterinarian who is eligible for registration in South Australia and keen to gain genuine mixed practice exposure. The ideal candidate will be coachable, curious, team-oriented and ready to grow. A sense of humour, an interest in the outdoors and a genuine enjoyment of working with people will all be highly valued.
The practice is located in a vibrant regional town with a relaxed, friendly feel. It’s a great base for someone who wants a rural lifestyle with easy access to the coastline, nature and local attractions. The wider area is known for its beaches, surf spots, bushwalking, outdoor adventures, wine regions and community events.
