The role offers the opportunity to work with small animals as well as large animal farm visits, giving you a balance of surgical, medical and fieldwork variety that makes mixed practice so rewarding.
The world-class small animal hospital is equipped with CT, endoscopy, ultrasound & advanced surgical suites. The farm visits will involve treating cattle, small ruminants, horses and more.
The practice employs nine vets and more than 40 skilled support staff, so there is always someone available for collaboration and support.
The ideal candidate will have at least two to three years’ experience in mixed or large animal practice, with confidence in routine farm visits and small animal surgery. Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with clients and colleagues are important, and a full driver’s licence is required. An interest in equine medicine, surgery or dentistry, or in herd health and farm relationships, would be highly valued.
The salary package is generous, ranging from $120,000 to $160,000 depending on experience. Relocation support and visa sponsorship are available for suitable candidates, along with paid study leave, CPD allowance, more than 30 in-house CE points annually, AVA membership and professional insurance. Support is also provided for QLD Radiation Licensing.
The employer is willing to assist with a work visa (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.
