Are you an experienced farm vet who enjoys large animal work, values strong client relationships, and wants to be part of a grounded, supportive team?
An opportunity is available for a senior large animal veterinarian to join a multi-site practice in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand’s North Island.
This role will suit a capable and experienced vet who enjoys being out on farm, working alongside farmers on herd health, production issues, and the practical challenges of day-to-day farm life. The client base is predominantly dairy, with an average herd size of around 440 cows, along with some beef, sheep, deer and lifestyle work. It is a great opportunity to build genuine, long-term relationships with on-farm decision-makers and become a trusted part of their business.
You will be joining a large, established team across four clinics, with around 70 staff in total, including 17 large, mixed and companion animal veterinarians, as well as experienced technicians and support staff. This is a practice where people support each other, share knowledge freely, and take pride in doing a solid job. There is scope to contribute your experience, continue learning and mentor newer vets.
The practice offers modern equipment and facilities, a supportive team culture, and a genuine commitment to ongoing professional and personal development. Each team member’s contribution is recognised, and approachable, experienced vets are available for help and support, with referral practices readily accessible when needed.
An attractive salary package is on offer, along with flexible employment options that support lifestyle and work-life balance. You will also be part of a fair and reasonable after-hours roster and be well-rewarded for your contribution. The practice offers a non-corporate, family workplace culture that will appeal to vets looking for long-term satisfaction in their role.
The Bay of Plenty offers an excellent lifestyle, with world-renowned mountain biking and walking tracks, great fishing spots, water skiing, and swimming in any of the 17 local lakes. With the beach around an hour away and the snow approximately two and a half hours from the clinic, this is a fantastic part of New Zealand to enjoy the outdoors year-round.
