JOB NO: 223,107SB2

A practice on the coast of New Zealand’s South Island is seeking an experienced small animal veterinarian for a clinical lead position. This is an opportunity to remain hands-on clinically while taking greater ownership of team development, standards of care and the future direction of the clinic.

You’ll lead, coach and support a small, experienced team of veterinarians, helping to build clinical capability, confidence and consistency. You’ll also contribute to clinic strategy, service improvement and better animal health outcomes, while working alongside a wider leadership group and retaining the autonomy and connection of a local practice.

The team is close-knit and supportive, with a strong focus on clients, patients and one another. The practice values long-term relationships, practical veterinary care and strong clinical leadership. You’ll also have access to career pathways, training opportunities and ongoing professional support.

This role offers generous CPD and development pathways to support your leadership growth, along with a well-resourced clinic and a workplace culture that values wellbeing and balance. It would suit a veterinarian who enjoys mentoring others, building strong client relationships and taking a practical, adaptable and solutions-focused approach to their work.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Veterinary Science or equivalent and be eligible for veterinary registration in New Zealand. You’ll need to be a confident and experienced veterinarian who is ready to step into clinical leadership or continue developing in an existing leadership role.

New Zealand’s West Coast is the perfect place for anyone who loves nature and adventure. Known for its stunning, untamed landscapes, the region offers a dramatic mix of wild coastline, lush rainforests, and snow-capped mountains. It’s a place where you can explore rivers and lakes, hike scenic trails, or simply take in the breathtaking views. With a relaxed, welcoming community and a slower pace of life, it’s ideal for those who want to enjoy the great outdoors while still having all the essentials close at hand.
