An opportunity has become available for an experienced large animal veterinarian in New Zealand’s Southland Region.
The practice is seeking a vet for a 12-month fixed-term position. This role offers the chance to join a close-knit and experienced veterinary team, supported by a veterinary technician and dedicated retail and administration staff.
The position involves a diverse large animal caseload across dairy, beef cattle, sheep and deer. Benefits include full coverage of NZVA and VCNZ fees, temporary accommodation to help you settle into the area, Chamber of Commerce memberships offering local retail discounts, generous staff discounts and wellbeing support.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Veterinary Science or equivalent and be eligible to practise in New Zealand. You’ll need at least four years of experience in dairy and/or sheep and beef practice, along with sound clinical and surgical capability. Strong communication and teamwork skills, initiative, adaptability and a genuine commitment to clients, animals and the community are also important.
If you love the great outdoors, this area offers rivers, lakes, mountains and coastlines to keep you busy. For a taste of the metropolis, Queenstown and Dunedin are on your doorstep and there are quick international connections around New Zealand and the world.
