JOB NO: 222,950SB2

An experienced small animal veterinarian is required to join a well-established and highly respected veterinary hospital in South Australia.

This is a great opportunity for a vet who enjoys working as part of a collaborative, experienced team and wants a balanced role with strong support, excellent benefits and room to continue developing professionally.

The successful applicant will primarily work at one hospital, with occasional shifts at a second nearby practice located around 2km away. The team includes 10 experienced veterinarians, many with more than a decade in the profession, supported by more than 30 skilled nurses. The clinic has built a strong reputation for patient care, client service and team collaboration, with a culture centred on knowledge sharing, open communication and genuine support.

This is a general practice role with an approximately 50/50 split between consulting and surgery. Each shift is well supported, typically with three nurses and two support staff, helping ensure vets have the resources they need to provide excellent care.

The role is four days per week, plus one in four Saturdays, with flexibility around working days.

The team is close-knit and genuinely enjoys working together, with plenty of laughter, strong teamwork and open communication embedded in the culture. The practice values autonomy, collaboration, vulnerability, family and accountability, and would suit a vet who shares these values. The team holds whole-staff meetings each Wednesday, including training sessions and team updates.

The hospital is equipped with in-house diagnostics, including X-ray and ultrasound facilities. You will have access to external specialists and opportunities to develop areas of special interest.

The role would suit someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment while remaining focused and composed, communicates clearly and professionally, and enjoys building strong relationships with clients and colleagues. A proactive, adaptable approach and sound problem-solving skills will also be important.

Applicants should have a minimum of three years’ experience as a small animal veterinarian, along with strong clinical knowledge and a commitment to high-quality care.

A competitive salary package is on offer, along with a range of additional benefits. These include a ‘You’re Pawesome’ cash bonus program, with a 10% bonus paid after three years, paid Veterinary Board Registration and VIN membership (pro-rata), EAP access, Mental Health First Aid accreditation, ongoing continuing education programs, a $3,000 annual CPD allowance and one week of paid study leave (pro-rata). You will also receive novated vehicle leasing options, Fitness Passport membership, a generous employee referral bonus and access to an online learning portal. The workplace is also Certified Great Place to Work.

The location offers an appealing lifestyle for those who enjoy the balance of country charm and city convenience. Located around 40km north of Adelaide and close to the Barossa Valley wine region, it provides access to historic streetscapes, local services, regional food and wine, and an easy connection to Adelaide for city amenities. It is a great base for someone wanting community-focused living while remaining within reach of South Australia’s capital and surrounding lifestyle attractions.
