This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced veterinarian to join a modern, purpose-built veterinary hospital in Canberra.
This role would suit a GP vet who enjoys consulting, medicine or surgery and would value access to advanced diagnostics, complex procedures and specialist support within the same hospital.
The successful veterinarian will work alongside an experienced and collaborative team that includes membership-qualified surgeons, an internal medicine specialist and visiting surgical specialists. A highly skilled nursing team and excellent nurse-to-vet ratio allow the veterinarians to focus on delivering a high standard of medicine and patient care while receiving strong support throughout the day.
The hospital is equipped with an in-house CT scanner, digital radiography, two high-quality ultrasound machines, endoscopy, a full in-house laboratory and modern surgical suites. These facilities give veterinarians the opportunity to manage cases from the initial presentation through to diagnosis, treatment and follow-up, with support available from the wider team.
The caseload can include wellness and preventative health consultations, medical workups, soft tissue surgery, dentistry and, if desired, emergency presentations. There are also opportunities to assist with advanced medical and surgical cases or develop further skills in areas of interest. Regular in-house education, case discussions, mentoring and ongoing professional development are provided, with further training supported.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Veterinary Science or equivalent degree recognised in Australia and have at least one year of postgraduate experience. They should be confident managing routine consultations and surgery, communicate well with clients and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team.
The full-time role offers a competitive salary based on experience and a flexible roster designed to support work-life balance. Additional benefits include a generous CPD allowance, paid study leave, paid Veterinary Board registration, Radiation Licence and VIN membership, access to an online learning academy and further educational resources.
Further benefits include a retention bonus program offering a 10% bonus on top of earnings each fortnight, which can be cashed out after three years of service. Paid parental leave and paid Purrental Leave are also available, along with novated vehicle leasing and Fitness Passport membership options. Team members also have access to an Employee Assistance Program.
Canberra offers short commuting times, excellent schools and easy access to national parks and mountain biking trails. The ski fields and South Coast are also within reach, making the area well suited to people who enjoy outdoor activities, weekend trips and a balanced lifestyle.
This position offers the chance to continue enjoying the variety and client relationships of general practice while gaining access to advanced imaging, medicine, surgery and specialist knowledge. The team is committed to supporting each veterinarian’s wellbeing, professional growth and individual career interests.
