A practice in New Zealand’s Southland Region is accepting applications from experienced equine veterinarians looking for a new opportunity.

The work is varied, with no two days the same and the successful applicant will be encouraged to participate in all aspects of the practice.

Duties include performing equine surgeries, attendance at race meetings and breeding work (both fresh and frozen AI) during the breeding season.

The employer welcomes applicants with a desire to learn and further develop their equine surgical skills or with a speciality in equine surgery.

The salary offered is $110,000+ per annum, depending on experience. CPD is actively encouraged and the employer also makes a contribution to wellbeing activities (some people have bought ski passes with their portion, others join the gym or do a photography course!).

You will be working full-time hours with a sensible after-hours roster in place.

A relocation allowance is provided, veterinary registration paid and staff discounts applied for companion animals. A work vehicle, laptop and phone are provided, plus six weeks of accommodation provided on arrival (if relocating). Plus, there is plenty of ‘food for good,’ when on the go – fruit, nibbles, and snacks to keep you going!

With specialist equine services and a hospital with a modern surgical suite, this practice offers full imaging equipment both in-house and at stable, with cutting-edge medicine surgical offerings for all horses from racing and sport horse elite athletes to pleasure horses.

The area is rich in wildlife, art and history, with plenty of character and a warm and friendly atmosphere. There is an excellent range of shops, lively bars and restaurants.
