An ASAV-accredited hospital in Canberra is seeking an experienced small animal veterinarian to join the team.
This role is ideally suited to a full-time vet, although flexible arrangements may be considered for part-time candidates. There are no after-hours or on-call shifts.
The employers understand the importance of balancing work with family and personal commitments, and are open to discussing roster options that support school pickups, caregiving responsibilities and a healthy work-life balance.
This is a great opportunity for a confident and compassionate vet who enjoys working in a collaborative hospital environment. The role involves consulting and diagnosing patients, performing surgical and medical procedures, developing treatment plans, communicating with clients, working closely with nurses and support staff, and contributing to ongoing improvements in clinical practices and patient outcomes.
The successful applicant will ideally bring at least three years’ small animal experience, strong clinical and surgical skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to mentor nurses and early-career veterinarians.
The hospital has cared for local pets and families for five decades and has developed into a sophisticated, fully equipped practice. The team includes around 20 professionals and has a culture built on mutual respect, emotional intelligence, professional autonomy and genuine support.
Facilities include a dedicated surgical suite, digital x-ray including dental with RocketPACS, advanced ultrasonography, echocardiogram capability, and a strong commitment to a Fear Free approach.
The role offers a competitive salary package starting from $120,000 plus superannuation, tailored to experience and skill set. Relocation support is available for the right candidate.
Additional benefits include generous support for CPD, further study and special interest development, mentorship from experienced veterinarians, structured development planning, access to an Employee Assistance Program, health insurance and gym membership discounts, staff pet account benefits, free parking, birthday celebrations and team appreciation dinners.
The employer is willing to assist with a work visa sponsorship for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science or equivalent and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.
