JOB NO: 222,847SB2

An experienced equine veterinarian is required to join a large, highly skilled team in regional Victoria. This is a great opportunity for an experienced vet with a strong work ethic, excellent relationship-building skills and a genuine commitment to exceptional equine care.

This is a varied role within a hospital that provides first opinion, referral and 24/7 emergency care, with both hospital-based and ambulatory work. The team includes surgical and reproductive specialists, along with ambulatory and hospital clinicians, offering excellent support and collaboration in a busy, fast-paced environment.

This role will suit a confident clinician who enjoys the variety of general practice and is comfortable managing day-to-day equine cases while working alongside specialists on site. Duties include hospital consultations for both first opinion and referral cases, advanced diagnostics for referrals, poor performance investigations, intensive care for hospitalised patients, and management of neonatal foals during the breeding season.

The role also includes providing high-quality routine and emergency ambulatory services. An interest in reproduction or sports medicine would be highly regarded. Participation in an equally shared after-hours roster is required.

The employer is offering a competitive salary package commensurate with experience and skillset, along with a fully equipped modern veterinary vehicle and phone. There is a generous CPD allowance, access to internal training, membership fees and Victorian veterinary registration covered, plus after-hours compensation and 4 weeks annual leave with flexible options for additional unpaid leave.

The employer is willing to assist with a work visa (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.

Bendigo offers the best of regional living with easy access to wineries, a thriving food and wine scene, and one of Victoria’s standout regional arts hubs. It is a welcoming regional city with a relaxed pace of life, rich history and beautiful surrounding countryside, while still being within easy reach of Melbourne.
