An exciting opportunity has become available for a small animal veterinarian to join the dedicated Emergency and Critical Care team at a state-of-the-art hospital in Melbourne.
This newly created role is part of the hospital’s expanding A&E and ICU services. It is ideally suited to an experienced veterinarian who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is confident across emergency, triage and intensive care.
The position offers the chance to work with a highly skilled and supportive team, managing diverse caseloads across theatre, A&E and ICU. The hospital is well-equipped with advanced facilities, including CT, digital radiology, ultrasound, endoscopy, in-house laboratory, patient monitors and purpose-built separate dog and cat ICU wards.
Ongoing professional development is encouraged, with CPD allowance and further training support available. Staff wellbeing is a priority, with access to EAP services, grief counselling for clients, staff discounts, pet-friendly policies and an inclusive, collaborative workplace culture.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
– Demonstrated experience in emergency and critical care settings
– Veterinary qualifications and registration to practice in Victoria
– At least 4 years’ experience in an animal hospital or similar emergency/ECC environment
– Strong clinical decision-making skills
– High emotional intelligence and self-awareness
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– A positive, team-oriented attitude
– A passion for community-focused veterinary care
The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.
