Do you have strong livestock handling skills and a genuine passion for dairy medicine and surgery? This could be the perfect role for you.

This is a great opportunity for a large animal veterinarian to join a well-established, progressive mixed practice in the Gippsland region. The role is almost entirely dairy-focused, with only occasional mixed or companion animal work. You’ll be part of a 9-vet team known for its supportive culture and deep expertise, including highly experienced dairy vets who also provide consultancy services.

The clinic offers a manageable after-hours roster of one night per week and one weekend in four, supported by a tele-triage system that ensures you’re only contacted when necessary. As part of a larger practice network, you’ll have access to industry-leading training programs, mentorship, and clear career progression pathways.

The team values collaboration, communication and continuous learning. You’ll enjoy regular case discussions, study leave, CPD funding, and a positive workplace culture that supports wellbeing through initiatives like paid volunteer leave and access to the Employee Assistance Program.

Applicants should ideally have at least five years of mixed practice experience, along with experience in pregnancy testing, bull checks, lameness diagnosis and large animal surgery. Additional training and support can be provided where needed.

The employer offers a competitive salary package based on experience, with an after-hours allowance that includes 50% of professional fees, and a generous suite of additional benefits. These include paid parental leave, study leave, staff discounts, VSB registration and more.

The employer is willing to assist with a work visa (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.

Located just over an hour from Melbourne, the Gippsland region is ideal for vets seeking lifestyle and adventure. From pristine beaches and snow-capped mountains to award-winning wineries and gourmet food trails, the area offers year-round appeal and easy access to the city’s vibrant dining, cultural and sporting scenes.
