JOB NO: 213,986MH

Are you an experienced dairy vet looking to work in a dynamic environment where your contribution genuinely matters?

A practice in the Waikato Region is seeking an experienced veterinarian to work with their dedicated team.

This role is full time (40 hours per week), which includes participation in a shared Saturday and on-call roster. To support a healthy work-life balance, the on-call roster is thoughtfully structured, with weekend duties typically once every five weeks or less. Part-time hours may be considered (3-4 days per week).

This role calls for a veterinarian with sound clinical skills in both consulting and surgery, along with the confidence to manage sole charge when required. Just as important are the personal qualities you bring to the team.

The clinic is looking for someone with a warm and approachable nature who can help clients and colleagues feel valued. Strong communication skills, empathy, and compassion are essential, as is a collaborative mindset and a genuine curiosity for growth and learning. Reliability, professionalism, and a commitment to high standards of care are key, along with a shared passion for strengthening the human-animal bond.

Key responsibilities include:

– Provide exceptional veterinary care to your patients, ensuring their well-being and quality of life.

– Conduct routine herd health checks, fertility management, and disease prevention.

– Perform surgical procedures and treatments as required.

– Bring your clients on the journey to improve their animal and farm performance.

– Maintain detailed clinical records and provide timely reporting.

– Collaborate with the wider veterinary team to deliver exceptional client service.

– Participate in an after-hours on-call roster to address urgent animal health issues.

You will be joining a passionate and close-knit team that works across some of New Zealand’s most beautiful regions. The clinic fosters a supportive culture where people feel they truly belong, and where professional development and wellbeing are taken seriously.

The practice offers a range of benefits to support staff, including an employee assistance program, six-monthly development reviews, and tailored support to help you achieve your goals. CPD and self-education are encouraged and funded, alongside a variety of wellbeing initiatives.

The package includes competitive remuneration, KiwiSaver contributions, and team perks such as discounts on services and products. Staff also receive flu vaccinations, an extra day of paid leave on their birthday, long service leave, and parental leave top-ups that extend to non-primary caregivers. Flexible working arrangements are available to help maintain a healthy work/life balance.

The practice is located in a district with rich sheep shearing and mining history. Quirky cafes and funky retail outlets can be found in town. You’ll find a welcoming community, affordable living, and endless opportunities to explore the outdoors – whether it’s hiking, horse riding, or weekend getaways to the coast. Come for the job, stay for the lifestyle!
