JOB NO: 223,362SB2

Would you do things differently if you had the opportunity to build and lead your own veterinary hospital? This could be your chance to put those ideas into practice!

An opportunity is available for an experienced veterinarian to take on a Clinical Lead role at a brand-new, independently owned veterinary hospital. This is a unique opportunity to help establish a practice from the ground up, shape its culture, build a team and play an important role in its long-term success.

While the hospital itself will be new, you won’t be starting without support. The practice is being established by the owners of an existing veterinary hospital, giving you access to proven operational systems, established standards of care and the experience gained from running a successful practice. You’ll have a strong foundation to build on, along with the freedom to contribute your own ideas and help shape how the new hospital operates.

Initially, you’ll be the primary veterinarian, working alongside an associate vet. You’ll remain actively involved in clinical work, managing cases, consulting with clients and delivering a high standard of veterinary care. You’ll also help recruit the nursing team, develop client relationships and establish the systems and culture that will support the hospital’s growth.

As the practice becomes established and the team expands, your role will naturally evolve. There will be opportunities to take on greater leadership responsibilities, mentor and develop colleagues, improve clinical and operational processes and help guide the hospital’s future direction. This is a position where you can continue developing your clinical skills while growing as a leader.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced, confident veterinarian who enjoys clinical problem-solving and takes pride in providing excellent patient care. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with a collaborative approach to working with clients and colleagues. You’ll be someone who can identify opportunities for improvement, offer practical solutions and help bring others along with you.

This role would particularly suit a vet who enjoys taking initiative and wants to make a genuine difference to the practice they work in. Establishing a new hospital will bring challenges, so you’ll need to be adaptable, resourceful and comfortable taking responsibility. In return, you’ll have the satisfaction of helping build something from the beginning and seeing your efforts make a lasting impact.

The independently owned practice offers direct access to the owners, genuine input into decision-making and a commitment to investing in your professional development. For the right candidate, the owners are also open to exploring profit-sharing arrangements linked to agreed performance targets as the hospital grows.

Located in Melbourne’s south-east, the practice is in a growing, family-friendly suburb with a welcoming community feel. With local schools, parks and shopping facilities, along with easy access to the surrounding south-eastern suburbs and the Mornington Peninsula, the area offers an appealing lifestyle away from the bustle of inner-city Melbourne.
