The United Kingdom – is it a good time to go?

Is it a good time to locum in the UK?  The short answer is yes.

The exchange rate:
The pound sterling has strengthened. About a year ago one pound was worth approximately $1.50, today it is worth approximately $1.86. A strong pound is obviously very helpful if you intend to bring money back home or would like to earn some pounds in the UK then travel.

Supply of work:
The demand for locum vets continues to be consistently strong for vets with two or more years’ experience. There is a peak in demand for locums between July and September as many UK vets go on holiday.  Tip: The more flexible you are on location the more job opportunities you will have.

Visas:
Please check that you can secure a suitable visa well in advance. www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk
You may wish to investigate the UK Ancestral Visa, Right of Abode, Youth Mobility Visa and other visas.
