A state-of-the-art veterinary hospital in inner Melbourne, is seeking a dynamic and experienced practice manager to join their team in the role of Clinical Operations Manager (Surgery and Inpatients).

The Clinical Operations Manager (Surgery and Inpatients) will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the hospital’s treatment room and surgical floors. This newly created position aims to streamline workflows and maintain high standards of care and efficiency.

You will report to the hospital’s Veterinary Director and work collaboratively with the Clinical Operations Manager (Consults) and Head Vets.

Key responsibilities include:

1.Overseeing the day-to-day workflow within the practice, focusing on the treatment room and surgical floors.

2. Managing rosters to ensure adequate staff are available for the hospital’s workload.

3. Maintaining a high level of responsiveness and adaptability to incoming cases.

4. Supervising and supporting veterinary staff, ensuring a cohesive and effective team environment.

5. Working within practice budgets and managing financial responsibilities in collaboration with the finance department.

The successful applicant will work a four day week with some weekend work required (the practice is open from 8 am to 7 pm, Monday to Sunday).

You will work alongside highly skilled and experienced veterinarians and vet nurses in a contemporary facility.

The practice is extremely well-equipped, with a CT scanner, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, x-ray, electrocardiogram, tonopen IOP, cryopen, doppler, SurgiVet monitoring equipment and more.

1. Prior practice management experience in a busy veterinary or human healthcare setting is essential. Experience running a surgical floor or treatment room is highly regarded.

2. Strong supervisory skills, with the ability to manage a busy, multi-disciplinary environment. Financial management experience and the ability to produce KPI reports are advantageous.

3. Agile, responsive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
