A position has become available at a well-established mixed practice located north-west of Melbourne. The clinic is located in a popular regional area, with a growing reputation as a fine food destination. The town has an eclectic art scene and a rich history. The area is known for its community feel, and there is always something going on.

Both new/recent graduates and experienced veterinarians are welcome to apply. New/recent graduates will receive support from experienced veterinarians working at the practice as well as the practice owner who has recently retired but enjoys in-person mentoring.

The clinic caseload is predominantly small animal. The large animal work is a real mix including horses, cattle, sheep and goats.

There are currently three veterinarians at the practice. Vets are supported by a team of nurses, receptionists, and a hospital coordinator. The staff are supportive and committed to providing gold standard patient care.

The clinic is modern and purpose-built. They have up to date equipment for both medical and surgical procedures. This includes ultrasound and portable ultrasound unit, full dental suite with digital radiology, sterile theatres, orthopaedic kits, separate dog and cat wards, laser therapy, endoscopes, rhinoscopes, microscopes, in-house IDEXX laboratory and ventilator.

The clinic hours are:

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: 9 AM – 5 PM

Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9 AM – 7 PM

Saturdays: 10 AM – 1 PM

Full-time vets at the practice work a 4 day week plus occasional Saturdays. After hours is minimal and typically includes one night on call per week.

The clinic offers a full range of western veterinary treatments. In addition, the practice owner has a special interest in alternative therapies such as acupuncture. Training can be provided in this area if the successful applicant is interested.

The employer is willing to assist with a work visa (sponsorship) for suitable experienced overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.

The practice is well-located just one and a half hours from the Melbourne CBD.
