A welfare organisation in Brisbane is seeking veterinary nurses to join its busy hospital team on either a full-time or part-time basis.
This is a rewarding role for a compassionate and capable nurse who wants to make a genuine difference to the lives of animals in need while working in a fast-paced and varied clinical environment.
The role involves providing medical and surgical nursing care to animals admitted through a range of pathways.You will assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments and procedures, administer routine medications and treatments, carry out laboratory and pathology testing, help with triage and intake, maintain accurate patient records, support reception duties when required and help ensure the hospital remains clean, safe and hygienic at all times.
This position would suit a vet nurse who enjoys hands-on nursing, works well under pressure and values being part of a collaborative and supportive team. The caseload is diverse, the pace is busy, and the work is meaningful. The hospital operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so applicants need to be available to work day, evening, overnight and weekend shifts.
Previous experience in surgical nursing, emergency or critical care in a companion animal setting will be highly regarded, along with strong communication, organisation and time management skills, attention to detail, adaptability and a genuine commitment to animal welfare. The role also involves physical duties, including manual handling and lifting.
