One of the largest veterinary practices in New Zealand is seeking an experienced and qualified veterinary nurse to join their team.

This is a fixed-term 12-month role to cover a period of maternity leave. The position will commence in November 2024.

The practice is seeking a qualified vet nurse with at least two years’ experience.

The successful applicant will join an expanding and experienced team of 27 vets over five practices, as well as over 40 support staff. The team meet regularly and provide excellent peer support.

There are significant learning and development opportunities available in order to build on your existing skills.

This progressive and busy practice focuses on providing a challenging yet fun working environment with lots of support and reward.

Duties will include surgical nursing, general nursing, and nursing consultations.

There are no after-hours to be worked. However, nurses are required to take the work phone on a 1 in 10 weekend rotating roster and be the first point of contact for the vet on duty.

The practice has four consult rooms, two surgeries, an isolation building, DR Digital x-ray suite, prep area, ultrasound machine and full IDEXX lab, and more.

The ideal candidate will:

– Work well in a team environment.

– Love working outdoors and be physically fit

– Be familiar with dairy farming and have excellent stock handling skills

– Have excellent customer service, communication, and computer skills

– Work well under pressure and take pride in working to a high standard

– Have a current full New Zealand driver’s license

The practice is located on the North Island. The area is one of New Zealand’s best-kept secrets. Look past the stunning, green dairy farms, and you will find the most easy-going locals, black-sand beaches with rolling surf.
