An opportunity has opened up at a privately owned family practice in Perth’s northern suburbs. The practice is seeking an experienced registered veterinary nurse to join their team.
The hospital has been a busy and thriving practice since 1978. With a large client base and strong, long-standing customer relationships, they’ve been caring for families across generations. Their team consists of 8 vets and 12 nurses, all committed to supporting and challenging each other to provide the highest standard of care for their patients. The hospital has earned accreditation as an ‘Employer of Choice’ by the Lincoln Institute, a leadership program that helps foster the careers and confidence of its team members.
Responsibilities of the role include:
– Demonstrating accountability and reliability in all aspects of your role
– Opening and closing of the hospital
– Answering phones and offering advice to clients
– Conducting in-house laboratory tests as required. (Experience using IDEXX laboratory equipment is a plus but not essential, as training will be provided)
– Assisting the vets with examining and treating patients
– Managing patient admissions, consults and discharges
– Assisting with radiography, surgery and diagnostics
– Monitoring anaesthetics and post-surgical recovery
– Caring for hospitalised animals, administering IV lines, fluid therapy, and blood tests
The practice is modern and well equipped with digital x-ray, pulse oximeter, blood pressure monitor, endoscopes, dental machine, two surgical theatres and more!
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, listening and customer service skills, as well as extensive knowledge of animal health. The employer is seeking someone whose professional values align with those of the team. Good computer skills are essential, and although having experience working with Cornerstone Veterinary Practice Management software will be highly regarded, it is not a must. The practice will train the right candidate for the role.
To be a successful candidate you need to hold a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and be registered with the Veterinary Practice Board of Western Australia.
The practice is well-staffed, so you will have plenty of support from the team around you.
