The practice is focused on small animals and wildlife. They work closely with several local charities, including a dog shelter, cat shelter and wildlife rescue groups.

It is located on the coast in a large rural centre. There are shopping centres, restaurants, and pubs in the town. There are also great beaches for swimming, fishing, surfing, and other water sports close by.

The practice has a very low staff turnover. The employer is focused on supporting the staff and making them feel like family who loves coming to work. They also have a great vet-to-nurse ratio. The nurses are highly skilled, so vets can concentrate on just doing vet stuff. There are also dedicated consult nurses to assist the vets.

The employer ensures that vets have a strict finishing time, and a complete 1-hour lunch break is guaranteed, with a quiet area upstairs for some chill time, separate from the clinic so staff can enjoy lunch on the balcony.

This modern hospital is fully equipped and includes:

– Dedicated cat consult room, 2 other consult rooms, plus a euthanasia consult room.

– Oxygen generator with built-in oxygen ports in each room and an oxygen recovery cage.

– Separate dental area with adjustable height specialised dental table, x-ray and comprehensive dental instruments.

– Separate dog and cat isolation rooms.

– High-quality ultrasound machine

– X-ray room with floating table and new DR digital X-ray machine.

– Separate lab room to house their IDEXX lab analysers, including coagulation profile.

– Tranquilliser dart gun for wildlife.

This is an ASFM gold-standard cat-friendly clinic.

They have fantastic clients who are willing to pay for recommended treatment.

The practice offers a generous CPD allowance, and further education is actively encouraged.

Applicants must have at least two years of post-graduate veterinary experience, a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration with the Veterinary Practice Board of Western Australia.

The practice is located in a lovely small city. It is very easy to get around. There is a nice culture. The weather is great. We find it to be a great, easy-going lifestyle. There are fantastic beaches, great for boating and swimming. There are lots of nice places to walk dogs.

Comments from a vet who has been working at this practice since November 2018:

There is a very happy, positive team atmosphere in the clinic. Everyone helps each other out. There are a lot of long-term, loyal staff here. The practice owner is very generous, kind and caring.

It is a busy clinic, but we have a good work-life balance. We don’t do any Sundays or on-call, and our employer really looks after the staff.

I have worked in a lot of different practices, and I find this one to be exceptional. We do 20-minute consults and have consulting nurses, which really takes the pressure off the vets.
