A vacancy has arisen for a vet to work across three RCVS accredited branches in Norfolk and Suffolk.
The employer is open to an experienced vet but would also be happy to support a less experienced candidate who wants to build confidence in surgery. The practice is also happy to consider a consult-only vet if preferred. Applicants should want to be part of a team that is always striving to provide best care and share knowledge with one another.
All three clinics have multi-vet teams supported by friendly and proactive support staff. One of the vets holds an ophthalmology certificate, one is working towards an ECC certificate, and there are nurses working towards anaesthesia and exotics certificates.
Vets are encouraged to provide input and feedback in order to improve and evolve the services offered to clients and patients.
A full time role would see the vet working 36 hours across four days; however, this is flexible. The employer would also consider part-time applicants and flexible working arrangements.
Out-of-hours is one night every fortnight, which involves being back up to the on-call nurse for any inpatient concerns. Use of a flat at one of the branches during on-call is possible if it is not in use.
There are no phone calls from clients. In a 10-12-week rotation, vets would have one weekend as first-duty vet, which involves working 8.30 am - 5 pm on Saturday (for which vets receive a day off in lieu) and 9 am - 12 pm on Sunday; and one weekend as second duty vet, which involves working 9 am - 12 pm on Saturday and just being available if the first-duty vet needs a second pair of hands.
The clinics are well-equipped with access to digital x-ray, operating theatre, orthopaedic equipment, ultrasound, in-house blood machines and urinalysis. One of the practices is soon equipped with a blood gas machine.
On offer:
- Salary in range £32,000-£60,000 DOE plus reimbursement with extra pay for out-of-hours work and second-on-call weekend duties
- Generous £1750 CPD allowance
- RCVS VDS fees paid
- 6.6 weeks paid holiday (including Bank Holidays)
- Health Shield - contributions for health and well-being treatments, from dentistry to sports massage
- Enhanced paternity, maternity, adoption, shared parental leave, and surrogacy pay
- Discounted veterinary fees
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Company sick pay
- Annual pay reviews
- Focus on employee well-being.
Sponsorship is considered for overseas applicants. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science or other relevant qualification and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner.
There is plenty to explore in downtime, such as museums, river walks and theatre shows. Being close to the coast, there is also the opportunity to take a stroll by the sea. City lovers can enjoy Cambridge and Norwich, which are both nearby and great for days (or nights) out, as well as London, which can be reached in around two hours.
