JOB NO: 212,989MH

A position has become available for a veterinarian to join a newly refurbished hospital that has been a fixture in the local community for over 50 years.

Located just 2 hours from Sydney, this practice is highly regarded for their impressive range of orthopaedic and imaging equipment. The senior vet performs orthopaedic surgery and refers very little – hence you will be exposed to an interesting and varied caseload.

Ideally, this position is to work full-time; however, the practice owner would also like to hear from those interested in a part-time role.

The team of four dedicated vets are supported by a team of nurses who love to share their knowledge and expertise and strive to provide an exceptional client/patient experience.

There is a strong focus on work-life balance. The employer understands the importance of family, fun and relaxation. As such, there are no after-hours duties, and Saturday mornings are on a shared roster.

Sponsorship (work permit) is available for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.

Feedback from a vet who started at the practice as a new graduate in February 2020:

The whole team are very supportive, and the practice owners are very approachable and flexible, particularly with CPD and annual leave. The caseload is varied and interesting. Routine surgeries and complex procedures are done in-house, and medical cases can be worked up well; however, there is the option to refer if needed. The area is nice; there is a lake nearby and multiple beaches within a 15-minute drive. If you like surfing, hiking, biking, or anything outdoors, it is a great area! It is also not too far from the city. There are many pubs in the area and new restaurants opening. The practice is busy, but they schedule it really well, and I very rarely do any overtime. It was also great when I was first started; they would accommodate me, so it wasn’t overwhelming. All the vets regularly discuss cases and ask each other for input, bouncing ideas off each other. Everyone gets along well – it is a really good working environment!

Equipment at the practice includes a digital x-ray machine, dental radiography, IM3 dental unit, endoscope, ultrasound, lasercyte, Apalert, pulse oximeter, IDEXX lab, anaesthetic machine and more. Systems at the practice include Smartflow and Ezyvet.

The practice is located in a lovely area, close to beaches, wineries, shops, schools and national parks.
