Would you like to work in an engaging, fun and supportive workplace?
Would you like the ability to work up complex cases but refer when needed?
A great opportunity has become available to join a progressive, experienced 3-vet team in northern New South Wales. The team strives to provide better than just GP care. Working at this practice will provide exposure to an excellent caseload.
The team accept and work up complex medical cases, and have referrals for those that are needed. The practice’s approach is preventative medicine with a particular focus on dentistry.
Both experienced vets and new graduates are welcome to apply. The practice owner will support new grads both in the clinic and out of hours (when ready).
Vets are supported by highly trained, excellent nurses who are intuitive, competent and long-term staff members. They pride themselves in their work and routinely engage in continuing education. CE is strongly encouraged and supported by the employer.
The nurse-to-vet ratio at the practice is at least 2:1 for efficiency and flow. Nurse consults are being introduced to streamline consulting and to take things like billing and estimates off vet the hands and allow them more time for surgery, diagnostics and procedures.
The practice holds ISFM Cat-Friendly Accreditation, and multiple staff members have Fear Free Accreditation. The practice owner has memberships in Veterinary Behaviour and a special interest in reconstructive surgery and medicine. Other strengths include dentistry and ECC.
This role has the flexibility to be full or part-time. The clinic is open 8 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday, and 9 am to 12 pm on Saturdays. There is time allocated at the end of each shift for notes and phone calls. On-call is shared with another clinic. There is always an on-call nurse to assist the vet on weekends.
The purpose-built clinic has separate dog and cat consultation rooms and wards, a large treatment area with multiple treatment benches and wet bench. The imaging room has the usual PPE as well as a lead screen. Dog and cat isolation rooms are also available. The team will be moving into a new purpose-built clinic in 2025!
Equipment at the practice includes:
– Double surgical room
– Dental x-ray
– Wireless digital x-ray with floating table
– Ultrasound with echo capability
– Endoscopes, including flexible and rigid
– Ligasure to make surgery faster, safer and easier
– Ventilators for open chest surgeries and snakebite or tick cases
– Full in-house blood suite with specialist support on cases as well as digital pathology options
– Lots of other toys to make life easier!
The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.
