A large, multi-vet practice in Tasmania is seeking a veterinarian to join the team. This position would suit a vet who is interested in both medicine and surgery. Great communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment are essential.

Both new graduates and experienced veterinarians are encouraged to apply.

This is, ideally a full-time role. However, part-time hours will also be considered. The vet will join an 8-week rotating roster, working on average 32-38 hours per week.

You will be working alongside a fantastic team that pride themselves on providing exceptional care to clients. The practice is busy and sees a range of complicated surgical and medical cases.

The practice currently employs a team of 13 veterinarians. Vets work across a dedicated cat clinic and a separate dog clinic on the same property.

Special interests are encouraged and will be fostered. Support and mentoring are on offer from experienced vets within the team. Special interests currently include surgery and feline medicine.

The practice share after-hours with a neighbouring clinic. This means, on average, vets are on-call only 1 to 1 ½ nights per month.

This purpose-built hospital is very well-equipped, including 3 sterile theatres, digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound, rigid and flexible endoscopy, digital tonometer, in-house Idexx Procyte and Catalyst, Smartflow and access to off-site MRI and CT.

The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.

The clinic is located in beautiful Northern Tasmania, surrounded by pristine beaches, vineyards, and world-class walking/biking trails. The area offers a relaxed lifestyle, with plenty of superb food and wine experiences on offer. There is a wonderful mix of shops, cafes, a vibrant art scene, and heaps of parks and recreational activities nearby. Only a short 45-minute flight to Melbourne.

Feedback from a Cambridge 2000 graduate:

I have been working at this practice since August 2020. It is a very busy practice. I enjoy working with a team of like-minded people who always try to get the job done to the best standard possible. The caseload is mainly dogs and cats with some rabbits. Because of the size of the practice, we see some unusual things. We also can't refer much, so most things are done in-house. I am presented with a new challenge every day. I am currently doing a soft-tissue surgery course, and the practice owners make sure that I have the caseload to progress with this. The after-hours can be busy, however, you are well remunerated for this. There is almost always a day off after being on call. I do more here than other practices I have worked at, which is really satisfying. The practice equipment is good. In this position, I feel well rewarded, both financially and emotionally. The town is big enough for a family. There are good schools, and everyone is very friendly.
