In this rewarding role, you’ll play a key part in guiding and developing the practice’s young veterinarians. No teaching qualifications are required—just a genuine interest in mentorship. The position offers flexibility, with full-time, part-time, or casual options available. A full-time schedule includes two days of mentoring and two days of clinical work. For part-time or casual roles, your schedule would consist of two days of mentoring, with shift hours tailored to your preferences.
This practice is committed to providing exceptional pet healthcare around the clock, offering both general practice and after-hours emergency care. Handling trauma cases, foreign bodies, pericardial effusion, toxicities (especially snake envenomations), oncology, and referral patients is routine. Both GP and ECC clinicians are supported by a canine medical specialist and a visiting specialist surgeon.
You’ll be working alongside a skilled, experienced, and highly qualified nursing team, with multiple nurses on hand during the day to provide excellent backup and support.
The ideal candidate will be compassionate, patient, and have a strong background in general practice (GP) and/or emergency and critical care (ECC).
The hospital is fully equipped with advanced tools, including endoscopy, ultrasound, ventilators, and radiology. There is also an in-house IDEXX laboratory, along with extensive use of external veterinary pathology services. All clinics are computerized and connected to a central RxWorks database. The practice includes a large central hospital, an emergency center, and several branch practices.
Conveniently located approximately 40 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD, the practice is on a tram line and within walking distance of local shops and cafes.
