Would you like the opportunity to work with koalas and other native wildlife once a month as part of your job?

A part-time position has become available to join the team at a 4-vet small animal practice in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales.

This is a privately owned and well-established practice that has been serving the Hunter Valley community for over 40 years. The practice has a strong reputation in the community for providing high standards of care and treatment.

They are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate veterinarian to help grow the practice and support your professional development.

Do you have an area of special interest? Perhaps you love exotics, or dentistry, or really love a good medical workup. This team loves learning and is here to support your continuing education and growth in various areas. You will be provided with ongoing education, support and mentorship, and an amazing client base that allows you to practice exceptional medicine. Vets work one paid day per month at a wildlife hospital to learn more about caring for our native wildlife.

On offer is a package tailor-made to fit your lifestyle and experience level. Flexible working arrangements can be arranged. Vets at this practice enjoy an actual work-life balance. Health and family come first, and there are no on-call duties. You will not be contacted outside of work hours. Both the practice manager and veterinary director are working mums and know how difficult balancing home and work life can be. They have your back to help you achieve both your personal and professional goals.

The hospital is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 6 pm, and vets are rostered for 1 in 4 Saturdays, 8 am to 12 pm. The practice is closed on Sundays and public holidays.

In your new role, you will enjoy working with sufficient consult times, with time set aside to complete notes, make callbacks and take allocated lunch breaks.

You will be welcomed into a positive, supportive and inclusive team. Vets at the practice are well-supported with 4 to 5 nurses rostered on each day, along with a practice manager and dedicated customer service representatives. You will also have the support of the veterinary director, who has 12 years of clinical experience as a veterinarian and 20+ years of industry experience and is focused on your ongoing education and growth as a veterinary professional.

The practice is purpose-built and well-equipped with in-house bloods, digital x-ray, brand new ultrasound, and IM3 dental equipment, including dental radiology, which the nurses are trained in getting high-quality images efficiently.

This position is offering a competitive and above award salary package, depending on hours rostered and experience level. You will receive ongoing training and development, a CE allowance and one week of study leave per year.

Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.

The area has all the amenities you may need, such as a shopping centre, gym, schools and a cinema. Newcastle is just over a 30-minute drive away. The region is charming with a rich history, emerging food scene, thriving arts community, beautiful beaches and national parks less than an hour away; all this, just two hours from Sydney.

If you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, work well in a team, are a great problem solver with high attention to detail and good time management, we would love to hear from you!
