Are you already in a senior vet role, or are you hoping to step into one? This privately owned practice in Darwin is seeking a vet with at least four or five years’ experience to join their four vet team.

As well as seeing a good range of small animal cases the practice also works closely with two different wildlife groups and treats wildlife cases at the clinic every day.

This position has the flexibility to be full-time (38 hours per week) or part-time (approximately 30 hours per week). The successful applicant will be required to work 1 in 3 weekends and minimal after-hours (only 1 to 3 nights per month).

The successful applicant will work out of a spacious, well-equipped hospital. Equipment includes ultrasound, digital x-ray, IM3 Dental machine, endoscope, in-house laboratory and full anaesthetic suite with good monitoring equipment.

There is a good caseload, and consults are scheduled for either fifteen or thirty minutes, depending on the complexity of the case.

The successful applicant will be required to mentor more junior staff. There will be limited admin duties.

The employer at the practice places emphasis on the well-being of her staff. Vets are supported by experienced nurses, and a specialist surgeon visits every second month.

A work permit (sponsorship) may be available for vets from overseas for a full time role.

The employer is offering a generous salary of up to $130,000pa. There is assistance with visas and relocation, and a car and accommodation are available for short-term use if required.

Registration with the Northern Territory vet board is paid by the practice, as well as a CPD allowance.

Continuing education is encouraged, and special interests will be supported.

Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science or other relevant qualification and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner.

The relaxed city of Darwin boasts a great climate. It is close to national parks and offers the opportunity to enjoy the laid back tropical lifestyle of the Northern Territory with its endless outdoor activities. Bush-walking in the outback, camping, fishing and horse riding are all on the doorstep.
