Do you have a real passion for horses & the racing industry? Would you like to use your skill set to work with a number of excellent trainers at the major race tracks in Sydney?
A great opportunity has arisen for an equine vet to join a small, close-knit team at a specialised racetrack and performance horse boutique practice in Sydney.
This position would suit an equine vet with a background and/or strong interest in equine practice (specifically racetrack and performance horse work).
The team of vets and support staff are supportive, collaborative and fun to work with.
There is a focus on high-level performance horses and all aspects of thoroughbred breeding, sales and racing.
The role is based in Sydney and services local racecourses. They also have a branch in the Southern Highlands, servicing several thoroughbred studs and private horse owners across the Southern Highlands and Illawarra regions.
The role will involve working alongside other vets and sharing the responsibility of daily routine track work with several trainers in the area. Each morning from Monday to Saturday, vets will be required for track work. The remainder of the time will involve servicing other performance and pleasure horse clientele in the regions.
The team places focus and pride themselves on providing excellent service and developing strong relationships with clients to ensure their needs are known and met.
This position would suit someone with a minimum of two years of experience in equine practice. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with experience +/- an interest in thoroughbred racetrack work and general practice ambulatory medicine. Great communication skills, organisation skills and punctuality are highly regarded. The full-time role will require vets to share weekend and on-call duties as needed.
Vets are provided with everything they need to provide high standards of care, including a work phone and a fully-equipped vehicle, set up with equipment such as endoscopy, ultrasound and digital x-ray.
On offer is a generous remuneration and leave package. Work-life balance is important to the employer.
The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.
