A privately-owned 4-vet practice in the Riverina Region is seeking a mixed practitioner to work at their recently renovated and extended, well-appointed hospital!

Both experienced vets and new/recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

The caseload is approximately 70% small animal and 30% large animal. The large animal work is a balance of beef cattle and pleasure horse work. Applications from vets with an interest in beef cattle will be highly regarded. Small animal surgical caseload is varied, including orthopaedics.

For a full-time role, vets generally work four days per week, with a typical working day being 8:30 am - 5:30 pm. After-hours is just one night per week, with one weekend in four to be worked. Vets are supported with friendly, well-trained nursing staff.

The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.

The employer has indicated that there may be partnership prospects for the right candidate if desired.

Feedback from a 2015 graduate who started at the practice as a new grad:

I have been at the practice since I started as a new graduate around 7 years ago. The team are great. The nurses are all so lovely; I have never known nicer people in my life, and they are super helpful. The practice owner is very supportive. We regularly discuss cases, and they are happy to teach and mentor and support you in your interests. When I started doing on-call work on my own, they were always available to help either over the phone or in person and they still are. The caseload is interesting and varied. There is the opportunity to do lots of small animal surgery. The practice owner is great with surgery, including complex soft-tissue procedures and orthopaedics. Large animal wise, we mostly see beef cattle and some horses. We do a lot of calvings, some pregnancy testing and occasionally caesareans if needed. Sometimes we see goats and sheep, and I have even castrated a couple of alpacas and a mule. The town is really pretty; I love it here. There are a lot of sports clubs to get involved with if you want to. The clients would be my favourite - they are really lovely and have realistic expectations. They are just the best!

The practice is located in a blossoming, picturesque area in the Riverina Region of New South Wales at the foothills of the Snowy Mountains. There are plenty of natural wonders and activities to enjoy; hiking, biking, canoeing, swimming and fishing.
