A high-tech research facility in Adelaide is seeking a Director to fill a unique role at an Imaging and Research Laboratory.
The director will oversee the delivery of innovative and internationally competitive research programs that operate with professional independence.
Reporting to the executive director, the position will see the successful applicant working closely with the manager, bioresources team and other sectional leaders and relevant heads. Interaction with a range of external stakeholders will also be required.
Research is done across a diverse range of areas, such as oncology, cardiology, surgery and more. Prior experience with sheep and pigs will be viewed advantageously. The successful applicant will also work with rats, mice, rabbits and ferrets.
This is a full time role. Some out-of-hours work will be required, including weekends and public holidays. Irregular intra and interstate travel will be required.
Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia. A PhD or equivalent in relevant scientific research is essential. Formal post-graduate management training is preferred.
Other requirements include manual handling of animals, a Q fever vaccination, pre-employment medical examination, current driver's license and a valid police clearance.
The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.
