Would you like to work at a true mixed practice in Queensland’s outback? A unique role in Central Queensland has become available.

This opportunity would suit a vet with an interest in large animals. The practice welcomes new/recent graduates as well as experienced vets.

The caseload is approximately 65-70% beef cattle, 15% horses, 15% dogs.

The team preg test plenty of cows, test bulls, AI cattle and horses and fracture repair dogs in-house. They also service a handful of feedlots. The clients are low maintenance and truly appreciative of the service the practice provides to the community.

The practice has BCF cattle ultrasounds for each vet, excellent bull testing equipment, two top-of-the-range DR digital radiography, power float and equine dental kits, and Ute backs to fit out a vehicle, including fridges.

Experienced vets can choose between a full or part-time position. The successful applicant will join a four-vet team and become the fifth vet at this independently-owned practice.

Skills and competencies can be taught, though a can-do attitude and willingness to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in is required. You will have access to a broad and varied workload, and you will be encouraged to explore and develop any areas of interest.

The employer provides all the usual benefits of CPD, licenses, etc. After-hours on 50% professional fees are included. The salary range is between $80,000 and $130,000 per annum plus super, depending on experience. Potential partnership opportunities may be available, if desired. Assistance with relocation and finding accommodation can be provided. Any applicants are encouraged to speak to current or previous staff to get an insight into work life.

The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.

The practice is located in a great town and an even better community. The town is a great spot socially for young people or to raise a family.
