A permanent position has become available for a night OOH vet at an RCVS-accredited hospital and emergency service clinic.

The experienced team see a varied, challenging caseload, providing standard hospitalisation and emergency care.

The position would suit a veterinarian who is enrolled in (or wanting to enrol in) an ECC certificate.

The night team regularly perform caesareans, pyometra, and exploratory laparotomy with enterotomy and enterectomy. On the medicine side, the team see many addisonian, ketoacidotic diabetic cases and severe pancreatitis cases.

As part of the night team, vets are expected to be able to deliver the following with support and training:

- Endoscopy

- Negative Pressure Wound Therapy

- Urinary catheterisation

- Silicone Abdominal Peritoneal Drains

- Pig tail urinary catheters

- TFAST AFAST

- Oesophageal tube placements

- Nasogastric tube placements

- Seldinger Chest Drain placements

The night vet will work alongside a twilight vet until midnight, providing support during the busiest periods. Support is on offer from an experienced nursing team. All night nurses have either completed or are currently undertaking certificates.

The roster includes 7 nights on (8 pm-8 am) and 14 nights off. The employer is also happy to support vets wanting to locum elsewhere during 14 days off.

Following a recent extension, the workspace has almost tripled and the facilities have been developed. The practice is well-equipped with digital x-ray and advanced ultrasound with doppler, dental x-ray, Lasercyte haematology, flexible video gastroscope, flexible bronchoscope, video otoscope and rigid scope, APTT/PT, Angio/Felv/FIV/Giardia/Parvo/ProBNP, Transfusion Medicine, Lipid/Colloids and Catalyst Dx including Lactate, T4, NH3, Electrolytes.
