A practice in Cornwall is seeking an experienced farm vet with a strong dairy focus.
The vet will offer first-class service to their fantastic clients, as well as offering support and guidance to younger vets.
The practice serves a variety of clients while also delivering regular client training meetings, carrying out export work, and actively engaging in local and national initiatives. The size of the team ensures that there is always someone available for case discussions.
The successful vet will work as part of a 17-farm vet team supported by a team of ATTs and vet techs. The team is down to earth, with members of a variety of local sports clubs (hockey, rugby, football, netball) and others taking part in running, walking, off-roading, pub quizzes and dancing, among other social hobbies!
The practice is embedded in the local rural community and supports local clubs, schools and associations.
Ideally, the successful applicant will work full time (4.5 days per week). Working hours are usually 8.30 am - 5 pm, with time off in lieu for any early starts/late finishes and all weekends worked.
The rota is equally split across the whole team, with at least two vets on call every night. There is also the opportunity to buy and sell extra weekends.
A generous holiday allowance means you have plenty of time to enjoy the local area.
The role will involve all aspects of progressive farm vetting, working with a range of dairy, beef and sheep farms, allowing individuals to explore their interest areas. The team of ATTs helps to keep TB testing to a minimum, allowing vets to focus on their clinical work.
Further qualifications and certificates are encouraged and funded, with several certificate holders already working in the practice.
Other benefits include:
- 6.6 weeks paid holiday, including bank holiday
- CPD allowance of £1750 for vets and £2500 for advanced qualifications
- Health Shield
- RCVS Membership paid, plus two other membership subscriptions
- VDS cover
- Enhanced paternity, maternity, adoption, shared parental leave and surrogacy pay
- Discounted veterinary fees
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Company sick pay
- Colleague engagement survey
- Annual pay reviews
- Focus on employee wellbeing
