A practice in south-east Queensland has a current vacancy for an experienced mixed practitioner to join the team.

The practice sees approximately 70% companion animals and 30% large animals. The mix for this role is negotiable. However, the preferred applicant will see 50% small animals and 50% large animals.

The clinic is a long-established and busy mixed practice, with a legacy spanning 50+ years in the community. The team provide veterinary care to companion animals, horses and farm animals across the region.

This is a full-time position, working over four days per week plus a contribution to the Saturday morning roster.

The team provide an after-hours service to registered clients. This will be a maximum of 1:4 (possibly less frequent). The practice has a dedicated after-hours triage nurse team who answer and filter all calls and reduce unnecessary disturbance of the vets.

The role would suit a motivated and enthusiastic vet who values and contributes to a positive workplace culture. Applicants should have the ability to build rapport easily and work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.

ACV Preg Check and BBSE accreditation are advantageous, and those working towards these accreditations will be supported in doing so. Herd health and interest in feedlots and/or orthopaedic skills will be highly regarded.

The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.

Remuneration is dependent on skills and experience, however, a vet with well-established mixed practice skills can expect upwards of $90,000 per annum plus super.

A work vehicle and phone are provided, plus plenty of additional benefits, including paid AVA membership, VSB registration, paid parental leave, genuine support for CE, paid volunteer leave, as well as an extra day of annual leave per year.

The practice is located in a major regional centre within a rich agricultural area; it offers all of the expected services of a large town and is within easy reach of Brisbane.
