A veterinarian is required to join a privately owned, true-mixed practice. There are seven vets employed across two sites.
The practice sees a 50% large animal and 50% small animal caseload, but this can be modified to suit your interests.
The successful applicant will be joining a motivated, passionate team of vets and nurses who care about each other, their clients and pets, and are an integral part of their clients’ livestock businesses.
The small animal work is full of interesting medical and surgical cases. Orthopaedic surgery and canine reproduction services are performed in-house.
The practice provides lots of on-farm services, and each vet has their own fully equipped car with an inverter and fridge drawer. You will also be provided with a mobile phone.
The large animal work includes a variety of beef cattle commercial and seed stock stud enterprises, small scale feedlots, and performance horse studs.
During the equine breeding season, the practice operates a small on-farm equine breeding centre where there are plenty of opportunities to fine-tune your skills in semen collection and processing, as well as chilled and frozen artificial insemination of mares.
This full time role will involve working a 4 day week with a 1 in 4 on call rota.
You will be provided with 1 week’s study leave, paid AVA membership and $1,000 towards conference costs for CVE.
The practice is well-equipped with digital x-ray, ultrasound and has an excellent range of large animal equipment.
The practice is located approximately five and a half hours’ drive from Brisbane. There are plenty of activities to enjoy in the area, including water skiing, boating and hiking.
