Dreaming of working at a well-established mixed practice but don’t want to be hours away from the city? Look no further, this is a rare opportunity not to be missed!

A position has become available at a high-quality mixed practice in a beautiful, historic town just 1 hour away from Melbourne.

This is a permanent full time position. The employer is also open to seeing applications from candidates available for a fixed 12-month contract if preferred.

You will work as part of a highly skilled team of 4 vets plus experienced nurses.

The overall practice mix is approximately 80% companion animals and 20% large animals. This is a true mixed practice, where the large animal work consists of a wide variety of patients. Sheep, goats, cattle, equine, alpaca and pigs – you will get to see it all!

The successful applicant can expect to see the type of cases that come with peri-urban hobby farm clients, as well as larger commercial farm clients.

The practice provides veterinary services to a range of local farm animal sanctuary organisations. This provides the opportunity for vets at the practice to be exposed to a wide range of complex and interesting medical and surgical cases in species that are otherwise conventionally treated differently.

The employer prioritises work-life balance, they understand that there is life outside of the veterinary profession.

The clinic houses modern equipment and computers, RxWorks, full in-house IDEXX bloods, Surgivet anaesthetic monitors, DR radiography, dental x-ray and im3 dental machine and surgical electrocautery.

The team tackle complex and routine soft tissue and orthopaedic cases. They consistently perform in-clinic anaesthesia and surgical procedures on small ruminants and alpacas, as well as in the field.

The practice provides a vital after-hours service, which is balanced by nearby emergency referral centres so the caseload is not overwhelming. There will be a maximum of 1:4 nights on call. They also have a terrific, dedicated after-hours triage nurse team who answer and filter all calls before contacting the on-call vet.

What’s on offer?

– Generous salary packages.

– 4 weeks annual leave per year

– On call pay plus after hours bonuses equal to 50% of professional fees.

Additional benefits of up to $20,000 to help you manage your work-life balance including:

– VSB Registration and memberships supported

– VetEducation membership

– 5 days paid volunteer leave

– Wellness Day – An extra paid annual leave day!

– Paid parental leave in addition to the government scheme

– 1 week CE leave

– Generous CPD allowances depending on your development plans.

and more!

Sponsorship (work permit) is available for suitable experienced, overseas candidates. Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible to register with the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria.
