A privately owned practice serving a beautiful town in northeast NSW and its surrounding communities for over 40 years requires a new member of staff.

The clinic boasts a dynamic team of seven full-time and two part-time veterinarians, whose experience ranges from recent graduates to professionals with 10-20 years of post-graduation expertise. This eclectic team fosters a supportive and collaborative environment every day.

The practice provides modern small and large animal care, maintaining a high standard of veterinary services. With a commitment to delivering comprehensive care, the clinic caters to the needs of a diverse and large regional community.

The clinic is equipped with:

– Digital radiography (including dental)

– Endoscopy

– Ultrasound

– High-quality orthopedic equipment

– Access to advanced imaging services (CT)

The team’s experience and capabilities extend to a wide range of interventional veterinary services, including small animal medicine, surgery (soft tissue and orthopaedic such as BOAS and TPLO), and assisted breeding technologies for both companion and production animals.

As a true regional mixed practice, the clinic ensures that one to two veterinarians are dedicated to farm and large animal services daily and up to six vets working in the small animal practice.

The primary focus of the large animal work is commercial and seedstock southern beef operations, with additional services provided to local dairy farms and other animals such as sheep, horses, alpacas, and pigs.

With a diverse caseload, the clinic supports practitioners in pursuing their specific clinical interests.

The employer is seeking an enthusiastic and effective communicator with a willingness to embrace all aspects of mixed practice while allowing you to focus on your special interests.

New and recent graduates and experienced vets from Australia and overseas are welcome to apply. Applicants from overseas will be supported with visas and relocation. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.

The clinic offers a supportive environment and professional framework to help veterinarians develop into confident, skilled mixed practitioners.

Feedback from a 2019 graduate who started working at the practice as a new graduate over 5.5 years ago:

One of the standout things about the practice is the case variety that you see. The practice is quite busy with lots of clients and lots of different kinds of animals. Being a rural mixed practice, you obviously see a mix of species from wildlife, pocket pets, cats and dogs all the way up to livestock, horses, and the occasional pig, but it is the variety in terms of the cases themselves – there are all the routines and basics, but you also see lots of rare and wacky cases. Some have been some real head-scratchers! As a new graduate, you really develop a wide knowledge base quite quickly that will set you up for life as a vet, and it also keeps it interesting as you become more experienced.

Everyone is super nice. We all get along with each other and are friends outside of work. On those stressful days, the team makes it so much easier! The team is very collaborative and everyone is happy to discuss cases. I still ask for second opinions all the time and even the most experienced vet does too. We do rounds every morning which is another good chance to ask questions. The practice owners both have over 10 years of experience and have a lot of skills and knowledge between them.

You won’t be forced to do something you’re not yet comfortable with. I started off with basic consults and worked my way up to more advanced cases. This was the same for surgery. Even when you don’t want anyone to scrub in with you, you can always ask them to hang around in case you need help or to ask a question. With large animal calls, new graduates will usually go out with another vet, to begin with until they feel comfortable to give things a go on their own.

The area is really relaxed and has everything you need to live a very comfortable life. There are plenty of shops, music and lots of sport. It is also located within an easy weekend trip to larger cities/towns.
