A diverse, well-equipped mixed practice in beautiful South West Victoria is seeking a veterinarian to lead their team.

You will be joining a large team of six vets with a mixture of experience, both full time and part time, large animal, small and mixed. The practice also has a strong team of qualified and registered veterinary nurses and trainees and enjoys a 1:2 vet-to-support staff ratio. The team pride themselves on working collaboratively, being approachable and sharing resources and skills.

As Lead Vet, you will be responsible for maintaining patient care and driving the practice’s high clinical standards. You will work closely with the support of a skilled Clinic Coordinator in the day-to-day running of the clinic. You will be a member of the management team responsible for the professional management of all clinical operations.

Your role will include managing, training, developing and supervising veterinary associates, graduates and nursing staff, as well as being hands-on in the delivery of veterinary services to patients and clients according to the practice’s high standards of care.

The position would suit a mixed practitioner or a small animal vet who is keen to work in a mixed practice environment. The caseload includes small animals as well as sheep and cattle, and there is the opportunity to see pocket pets, wildlife and equine depending on your interests.

This is a full-time role worked as a four or five-day week. The employers are open to flexible start and finish times to accommodate family and work-life balance.

Remuneration includes:

– Generous salary package including a base salary of ~$140,000- $150,000+ depending on experience

The successful applicant will have five or more years of veterinary experience and have demonstrated mentoring and management capabilities. You will be ready to move up into a leadership role and enthusiastic about leading a team and running your own clinic. You will be working within a modern, well-equipped clinic where you can practise medicine to a high standard.

The employer is willing to assist with a work permit (sponsorship) for suitable overseas candidates. Applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a veterinary practitioner in Australia.
