JOB NO: 223,795LW

An opportunity is available for an experienced veterinarian to join a family-owned clinic 1.5 hours north of Melbourne. The practice has been providing personalised, high-quality veterinary care to the local community for more than 40 years and has built a strong reputation for its friendly service and long-standing client relationships.

You will be joining a supportive and experienced team consisting of a highly experienced principal veterinarian, two experienced part-time veterinarians, six nurses and two junior nurses. The practice is seeking a veterinarian who is confident working independently and is committed to delivering a high standard of patient care and client service.

The ideal candidate will have mixed practice experience, although experienced small animal veterinarians with an interest in consulting and surgery are also encouraged to apply. The role offers flexibility and can be tailored to suit the successful applicant’s interests and experience.

The employers are committed to supporting a healthy work-life balance and offer genuine flexibility around working hours. The roster is built around your availability, with both full-time and part-time options available. A full-time role involves a four-day working week. There is a shared after-hours and on-call roster, including one in three weekends and a share of weekday after-hours. Clinic hours are 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12pm on Saturdays.

The practice is well equipped with IDEXX in-house pathology, digital radiography, ultrasound, Vision software, IM3 dental equipment, and a modern surgical suite with contemporary anaesthesia and monitoring equipment. The clinic also operates a mobile service that provides routine veterinary care to clients throughout the surrounding countryside.

The role involves small animal medicine and surgery, with opportunities to undertake large animal work if desired. Large animal services are primarily focused on beef cattle, with occasional sheep, alpaca and goat work. No equine work is undertaken.

This is an excellent opportunity for a veterinarian seeking a varied caseload and regular exposure to both medicine and soft tissue surgery. The caseload mix can be adjusted to suit the successful applicant’s interests and strengths.

There may also be partnership potential for the right person.

Located within easy reach of Melbourne and close to the Goulburn River, the area offers an appealing lifestyle with a wide range of outdoor activities. Residents enjoy horse riding, bushwalking, four-wheel driving, fishing and rock climbing, along with local wineries, restaurants and historic attractions. It is an ideal location for those seeking a balance between a rewarding veterinary career and an active lifestyle.
